Xalatan Drug Interactions

If you use bimatoprost, NSAID eye drops, or any other eye drops in combination with Xalatan, drug interactions could occur. These products can reduce the effectiveness of Xalatan or cause a precipitate to form. To decrease your risk of developing potentially negative Xalatan interactions, be sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are currently using.

An Overview of Xalatan Drug Interactions

Xalatan® (latanoprost ophthalmic solution) can potentially interact with other eye drops. Some of these medicines that may lead to Xalatan drug interactions include:

    • Bromfenac eye drops (Xibrom™)
    • Diclofenac eye drops (Voltaren Ophthalmic®)
    • Flurbiprofen eye drops (Ocufen®)
    • Ketorolac eye drops (Acular®)
    • Nepafenac (Nevanac™)

  • Any other eye drops.

Drug Interactions With Xalatan Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Xalatan is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Bimatoprost (Lumigan)
Bimatoprost and Xalatan are very similar medications (both are used to treat high eye pressure and glaucoma). Interestingly, using them together can make them less effective and may actually increase eye pressure. These medications should not be used together.
