Trusopt Uses

How Does Trusopt Work?

Trusopt belongs to a group of drugs called carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. Carbonic anhydrase is an enzyme found in many places throughout the body, including the eye. By inhibiting this enzyme, Trusopt lowers the eye pressure and decreases the amount of fluid produced by the eye (known as aqueous humor).

Can Children Use It?

Trusopt has been shown to be safe and effective for use in children. Be sure to ask your child's healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of any medication (including Trusopt) recommended for your child.

Off-Label Uses for Trusopt

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend using this product for something other than high eye pressure or open-angle glaucoma (this would be known as an "off-label" use). At this time, prescribing Trusopt to treat acute angle-closure glaucoma would be an off-label use.
