Precautions and Warnings With Qoliana

Make sure you know how Qoliana affects you before driving or operating heavy machinery, as this drug can cause drowsiness. Warnings and precautions for Qoliana also include the risk of certain medical conditions, such as depression, heart disease, or low blood pressure, becoming worse. Women who are pregnant or nursing should talk to their healthcare provider before using these eye drops.

What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to using Qoliana® (brimonidine tartrate) if you have:
 
 
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
 
  • Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
  • Breastfeeding.
 
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
 

Specific Qoliana Precautions and Warnings

Some warnings and precautions to be aware of prior to using these eye drops include the following:
 
  • There is a small chance that Qoliana could worsen certain medical conditions in some people. Due to this risk, this medicine should be used with caution in people who have:
 
    • Depression
    • Heart disease
    • Raynaud's disease
    • A history of stroke
    • Low blood pressure
    • Thromboangiitis obliterans.
 
  • These eye drops have not been adequately studied in people with liver or kidney problems.
 
 
  • This medication can sometimes cause drowsiness. Make sure you know how these eye drops affect you before driving or operating heavy machinery.
 
  • If you use other eye drops, make sure to separate the doses of Qoliana and the other drops by at least five minutes.
 
  • Qoliana is a pregnancy Category B medication. This means that it is probably safe for use during pregnancy, although the full risks are currently unknown (see Qoliana and Pregnancy).
 
  • It is unknown if Qoliana passes through breast milk in humans. Therefore, if you are breastfeeding or plan to start, discuss this with your healthcare provider prior to using this product (see Qoliana and Breastfeeding).
