Temporary burning or stinging in the eye is the most common side effect reported with Istalol. Problems that have also been reported in 4 to 10 percent of people using this medication include blurred vision, eye redness, and headaches. Notify your healthcare provider immediately if you develop any serious side effects, such as double vision, difficulty breathing, or any signs of an allergic reaction.
An Introduction to Istalol Side EffectsAs with any medicine, Istalol® (timolol maleate) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Possible Side Effects of IstalolIstalol has been thoroughly studied in clinical trials in which the side effects of a group of people who were taking the drug were documented. In these studies, the most common side effects of Istalol included temporary burning and stinging, which occurred in 38 percent of people.
Other common side effects, occurring in 4 to 10 percent of people included:
- Blurred vision
- Eye redness
- High blood pressure
- Vision that is less sharp or clear.
