Lumigan Uses

How Does Lumigan Work?

Lumigan belongs to a class of medications known as prostaglandins. Lumigan works by opening the channels that drain fluid from the eye, helping the excess eye fluid to drain from the eye more easily. By reducing eye pressure, Lumigan can help prevent damage to the optic nerve (and the vision loss that accompanies such damage) caused by high eye pressure.

Lumigan Use in Children

Lumigan is not approved for use in children. Talk to your healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of using Lumigan in children.

Off-Label Lumigan Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Lumigan for something other than glaucoma or high eye pressure. At this time, using Lumigan to treat other types of glaucoma (other than open angle) is considered to be an off-label Lumigan use.
