Zioptan Medication Information

Adults who have been diagnosed with high eye pressure (ocular hypertension) or open angle glaucoma may benefit from Zioptan® (tafluprost ophthalmic solution). This prescription medicine can help lower eye pressure and prevent optic nerve damage and vision loss that can occur with these eye conditions.

Zioptan comes in the form of eye drops and is used once daily in the evening. It is a type of prostaglandin and works by opening the channels that drain fluid from the eye. This helps drain excess eye fluid and reduces the pressure in the eye.

Before beginning treatment with Zioptan, make sure to review the medication's safety information with your healthcare provider. People who have a history of certain eye inflammation (such as iritis or uveitis) may not be able to safely use this drug. Also, Zioptan may cause serious interactions when combined with certain other medicines or other eye drops.
