Istalol Eye Drops

A healthcare provider may prescribe Istalol® (timolol maleate) to treat chronic open angle glaucoma or high eye pressure (ocular hypertension).

Available in the form of eye drops, Istalol is specially formulated for once-daily use. The eye drops are part of a class of drugs called beta blockers. These drops work to lower eye pressure by decreasing the amount of fluid produced by the eye (known as aqueous humor).

Although most people tolerate the eye drops well, Istalol is not suitable for everyone. Possible side effects of Istalol include burning, stinging, and blurred vision. Before using these eye drops, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other medical conditions you may have and any other medications you are taking (including non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements).
