Combigan® (
brimonidine/timolol) is a prescription eye drop approved for the treatment of
glaucoma and high eye pressure. It contains two different active ingredients:
brimonidine tartrate (which belongs to a group of medications known as alpha agonists) and
timolol maleate (a
beta blocker). This medicine works to lower eye pressure by decreasing fluid production in the eye and increasing fluid drainage.
Combigan is manufactured by Allergan, Inc. It is currently under the protection of a patent that prevents any generic Combigan from being manufactured in the United States.
Yet, if you search the Internet for "generic Combigan," you may find a number of companies selling it. The fact is that these medicines may be fake, substandard, and potentially dangerous.
