Available only by prescription, Azopt
® (
brinzolamide) is an eye drop approved for treating
open-angle glaucoma and ocular
hypertension. It comes in one strength -- Azopt 1% ophthalmic suspension. The prescribing information for this eye drop recommends the same dosage for everyone -- one drop in the affected eye(s) three times daily.
Although many people do not have any problems while using this medication, Azopt can cause side effects, such as blurred vision and an unusual taste. If negative reactions do occur, they tend to be mild and easily treated.
